One of the most beautiful editions of the Romantic period, illustrated with 14 false titles included in the pagination, a frontispiece on chine and 120 plates, all woodcut after Grandville's drawings. There are also 16 chapter headings, 13 lettering and 2 culs-de-lampe. A rare copy in full contemporary binding decorated on the boards with a beautiful cold restoration plate, including the plates in first printing, i.e. with the legends in white letters and ending with a dot. Some minor wear and tear, not serious. Scattered foxing.
