Very beautiful breviary illustrated with a frontispiece and a title vignette, identical in each volume. Precious and amazing copy. It was composed especially at the time for probably an eminent person, from two copies of the work. Also, instead of being composed of 4 volumes, one for each season, it has 8 volumes. The parts have been mixed up without really understanding why, certainly for practical reasons that escape us today, so that some passages are found in duplicate while others beginning in one volume end in another. At least leaf Ggg8 (pp. 841-842) is missing in the Spring section. The owner of the time has added 14 engravings previously cut and glued precisely where the passages were cut, thus covering part of the text. A FULLY SET COPY, IN MOROCCO WITH FLEUR-DE-LYS AND THE CROWNED CIPHER OF LOUIS XIV. At the beginning of each volume a handwritten leaf indicating the parts of the work has been added at the time. Discreet restoration to some corners, small lack to the head cap of the first volume, and rare traces of spotting. These minor defects do not alter the attractiveness of this most luxurious copy.
