[ENLUMINATION]. Ornate initial "H". Fragment from a Bible. Tempera and gouache on parchment. Italy, Rome/Ombria or Tuscany, ca. 1175-1200. size: leaf (H. 127 x W. 102 mm); initial (H. 95 x W. 85 mm) . Condition: illumination under frame (verso visible); old restoration affecting the line of the ornamented letter; on the back of the frame the mention: "Initial H on 11th century Romanesque vellum fragment of great rarity" suggesting a dating which seems to us to be wrong.
