Very nice and fresh proof on cream laid paper watermarked "arches", of the 1st state (of 3), before any lettering and before rectification of the edges, signed in pencil. Slight oxidation of the folio and a few small freckles. Minor snags and short tears at the edges of the folio and a thin band of oxidation more marked at the head. All margins. Very rare. Only one known proof according to Crauzat. All lots in this sale are subject to an additional 5.5% temporary import tax.
