ARTOIS. Manuscript, Remarques sur plusieurs articles de la coutume d'Artois avec quelques questions de droit et de pratique par Me G.F. Hebert conseiller au conseil provincial d'Artois avec differentes nôtes de Mr Rouget avocat, [circa 1770]; volume in-fol. of 581 pages, bound in contemporary speckled basane, spine ribbed and decorated with fleurons (head and spine caps worn). Commentary on articles 1 to 201 of the custom of Artois, corresponding to the ultimate codification, of 1669. This study of Guillaume-François Hébert was never printed, but a dozen handwritten copies are known. The present manuscript consists of a title page, a " Préliminaire " of 8 notes (p. 3-10), remarks (numbered) on each of the articles of the custom (p. 10-503), and a detailed and analytical table of contents (p. 505-581).
