Albert ROUSSEL (1869-1937). L.A.S., Paris April 26, 1929, to René Chalupt; 1 page and a quarter in-4, addressed to him, envelope.

Roussel evokes a letter from Chalupt's father "which was the origin of our friendship. I was at that time only the author of the Ode chinoise and the Poème de la Forêt, and yet this letter seemed to presage and announce events that have come true. Last night, I missed shaking hands with the author of the letter," he thanked him and expressed his "deep and intimate satisfaction with the magnificent event that has just ended"... [On April 25, 1929, a Roussel festival was organized at the Paris Opera for the composer's 60th birthday].
2 L.A.S. to Madame Chalupt and her daughter Linette about the Poème de la Forêt for which he is going to sign the score; and 2 L.A.S. from Mme Roussel ("Fratze") on 2 postcards representing Roussel at the piano: condolences for the death of Mme Chalupt (Oct. 6, 1944) and thanks for the tribute to Albert Roussel for the 10th anniversary of his death (August 23, 1947).
