Henri LANGLOIS (1914-1977). L.A.S. and L.S., [late 1967?] and June 6, 1976, to Marc Allégret; 2 1/2 pages in-4. Langlois has returned from New York and knows "your indignation at the deal that has been proposed to you [...] I must reflect, in today's particularly serious circumstances, before making a decision. [...] If I had had the slightest doubt about your friendship I would have stayed in Paris instead of entrusting the film library to you. [Before his final dismissal on February 9, 1968, Henri Langlois, who was traveling, had left his place to the vice-president Marc Allégret, who would also be ousted.] The typed letter of 1976, convenes him for the ordinary General Assemblies. Three letters addressed to Marc Allégret are attached: 1964, l.s. from Léon Mathot delegating his powers as president; 25/11/67, l.a.s. from Ant. Bertrand, on behalf of Malraux, proposing the name of Skimasi for the board of directors of the Cinémathèque; 25 May 1970, l.s. from Jérôme Medrano, proposing to make a film about the family circus; a set of family photographs used to illustrate the book by G. P. Langlois and G. Myrent on Henri Langlois; an in-8 magazine from the Cinémathèque du gâtinais on Le Scandale de la cinémathèque (spring 1968) and a card of honorary citizen of the city of Lignières-en-Berry in Langlois' name.
