original edition of this story in pictures telling the dreamlike and poetic journey of Adrien

.

This work is the work of the poet, painter and illustrator Maurice HENRY (1907-1984), close to the surrealists. It is considered as one of the most beautiful object books of the XXth century. It consists of 64 plates in color on 32 sheets of which 16 are openwork.
"In the image of the dreamlike and enchanting journey of the character, who has left dry land to travel through fantastic landscapes, alternately aquatic, plant and mineral, these openings induce in the reading a new logic and disrupt the temporality: each sheet turned is a step towards a surprise.
Imbued with surrealism, these Metamorphoses, quite apart in the work of Maurice Henry, also content in images of key reminiscences of his existence by bringing together the figures of fellow travelers such as Rene Daumal, poet of the Grand Jeu, and André Breton " (presentation of the editions of Sandres for the reissue of the book in 2018).

Copy with the second version of the cover, in unopened cardboard printed in black and blue. It is enriched with this autograph sending of the author to the writer and historian Jean Selz (1904-1997) :
" To Jean Selz // with the dreamy friendship of // Maurice // Henry "

Also added is a partly autograph business card of the artist, an autograph letter signed by the same, an original drawing dedicated to Jacqueline, and a small autograph missive on the letterhead of the " Figaro littéraire "
