Dancing woman, Safavid Iran, Isfahan, mid-17th centuryGouache and gold on an album page depicting a woman wearing an orange dress matching her veil and covered with a plum-coloured cloak with long sleeves concealing her hands, taking a dance step, her long sinuous body arched and her left hand raised. Mounted in a double margin illuminated with gold and polychrome, the first one decorated with three poly-lobed medallions with detached flowers on a speckled background, the second one with gilded floral scrolls housing some cartouches and half cartouches illuminated on the edge of the first margin.
