We thank Mr Mathias Chivot for the information he gave us. In the years 1898-1899, Roussel was still stirring up the ideas that had occurred to him for the preparation of the Vollard Album (1899). The naked woman - who could be Marie, his wife - and the child on the grass is a scenic device that he also adopted at the same time to design decorative panels, notably Bathers, for Ambroise Vollard.
