Lucien GUÉRINEL (born 1930). Autograph musical manuscript, Sentence nue for soprano voice, narrator and instrumental ensemble, 1983-1991; 59 sheets 37 x 27 cm.
Orchestral score of this cantata on a poem by Lucien Guérinel himself, in its second version. First performed in 1984 in Marseille (Espace Julien) by the soprano Corinne Laporte and the Solistes de Marseille conducted by Devy Erlih, Sentence nue was revised and re-instrumented in 1991 and performed that same year at the Festival Saint-Victor de Marseille by the soprano Karen Acampora, the narrator Jean Le Lamer, and the Orchestre régional de Cannes conducted by Philippe Bender. It is dedicated to the musicologist Jean Roy.
It consists of 21 stanzas in two parts: 1 "In the silence of the garden", 2 "By the nascent rite". The instrumental line-up includes: English horn, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, percussion, piano, 4 violas, 3 cellos, 2 double basses.
The manuscript is carefully written down in Indian ink on tracing paper, prepared for clichage, with white paper strips to mask the unused staves. At the end, a typewritten collar gives the dates: "March 23/27, 1983. 1st instrumentation February 2/March 19, 1984. Revision and re-instrumentation December 1990 / March 18, 1991".
The autograph manuscript for voice and piano (27 tracing sheets 37 x 27.5 cm) is attached. Plus the autograph parts of the orchestral material on tracings.
