Jean-Yves BOSSEUR (born 1947). Autograph musical manuscript, Un arraché de partout, 1967; 40 sheets 36 x 25.5 cm (first and last pages partly yellowed), plus 6 and 23 sheets.
Orchestral score of one of the composer's very first works, premiered on April 24, 1967 at the Théâtre de l'Atelier by the ensemble Musique vivante under the direction of Diego Masson.
The orchestra includes: 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, Hammond organ, 2 electric guitars, xylophone, marimbaphone, vibraphone and 2 percussions. The work lasts 18 minutes.
Jean-Yves Bosseur explained: "Un arraché de partout borrows its title from a line by Henri Michaux in the poem Mouvements. The work is composed of a fixed part whose direction is broken by mobile parts or "inserts", which the conductor interposes quite freely, guided by general indications. These inserts are of three types: - "static blocks"; - "movements", which oppose the fixity and continuity of the fixed part with a mobility soliciting the initiatives of the performers; - an autonomous part which concerns exclusively the performers and escapes the authority of the conductor. I did not seek to establish a dialectic or create a continuum between fixed and open forms, but to confront autonomous moments, varying according to the version developed by the conductor."
The manuscript, carefully noted on 24-line tracing paper, paginated 1 to 40, is accompanied by 6 sheets of explanations, and 23 sheets of "Blocks", "Movements" and "Rampement qui bout" intended to be inserted during the performance of the work. On the instrumentarium sheet, Bosseur drew the layout of the instruments. Another sheet explains: "An arraché de partout is composed of: a fixed part; a mobile part that fits into the fixed part. This mobile part includes: 7 blocks, 18 movements, 1 autonomous part "Rampement qui bout", inserted according to the indications "possibility of a block", "movement", "rampement qui bout".
