Philippe BOESMANS (born 1936). Autograph music manuscript, Fanfare I for piano, 1972; 4 sheets 32,7 x 47,5 cm.
Piece for two pianos with two hands. It is dedicated to the pianist Marcelle Mercenier (1920-1996) who premiered it in Saint-Hubert (Belgium) during the Festival de Wallonie on July 5, 1972. It lasts 12 minutes. [WD44].
The manuscript, carefully noted in Indian ink on oblong tracing paper with 3 systems of 4 staves per page, bears at the top the dedication "to Marcelle Mercenier", and at the end the date "February 1972". The first two staves are for piano 1, the third for piano 2, and on the fourth are noted the "Available sounds"; the notice explains: "The available sounds must be added on the 1st and 2nd pianos in a very free way taking into account the indications of nuances, articulation and density"...
3 attached typewritten and partly autographed sheets (3 p. in-4) give the diagram of the arrangement of the pianos placed perpendicularly, the explanation of the signs, the modes of articulation and the available sounds.
Discography: David Lively (Cypres 2009).
Attached is the edition (Jobert, 1972).
