Alain BANCQUART (born 1934). Autograph musical manuscript, La Naissance du Geste for string orchestra and piano, 1962; 28 sheets 37.5 x 27.5 cm (some small traces of marginal tape). One of the first works by Alain Bancquart. First performance in 1962 by Yvonne Loriod with the Orchestre de chambre de l'O.R.T.F. conducted by Marius Constant. La Naissance du geste, for string orchestra (violins 1 and 2, viola, solo cello and tutti cellos, and double bass) and piano, consists of two parts: I marked at the beginning Très doux, hésitant puis Vivo and ending Lento (p. 1-17), II Vite et fluide, and ending Doux et rêveur by the piano alone (p. 18-28). The manuscript is carefully noted in Indian ink on 24-line tracing paper. A photographic print of this manuscript, which served as a conductor (with annotations in coloured pencils) and includes 11 autograph pages inserted or in collages, with the supertitle Musique pour toi n° 3, is attached.
