[MARTIN (Charles). Il était une fois......... S.l., [1920s]. - Album in-4, 240 x 195 : (2 ff.), 4 plates. Hardback folder with gilt paper spine and glossy pink paper boards illustrated on the first board with a composition on a gilt background, white silk ties. An extremely rare album of which we have found no reference either in sales or in specialized bibliographies, and which seems to be missing from public libraries both in France and abroad. It consists of a blank sheet, a sheet including the continuation of the title appearing on the folder (".... A poor neurasthenic billionaire............"), in characters imitating handwriting, as well as 4 black plates, unsigned, respectively captioned: "He had no more appetite even in the best restaurants..." - "Aviation left him cold..." - "The beauties of the Capital, he did not appreciate them, being short-sighted..." - "Dancing reinforced his neurathenia..." - "The nude made him nauseous...". The text of the second leaf, as well as the illustrations, are enclosed in a frame composed of a bold pink fillet. There is also a composition on the first cover of the folder, depicting a plane in the sky. This copy has no mention of publisher, printer or edition. In the absence of other references we cannot confirm or deny that it is complete. The printing was done on Arches laid paper. Some wear and tear on the back of the folder. Attached, illustrated by Charles Martin : - DUVERNOIS (Henri). Nounette ou la Déesse aux cent bouche. Unpublished novel.
