MAIZEROY (René).
The Parisian women. L'Adorée.
Paris : Victor-Havard, 1887. - In-18, 187 x 115 : (4 ff. first blank), 243 pp. printed cover. Light blue half-maroquin with corners, spine gilt, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (Kama Rok).

First edition dedicated to Alexandre Dumas fils.

In the review Le Livre published by Octave Uzanne, we find the presentation of this novel by Maizeroy: "Beside the lived violence of the feelings which are analyzed with a communicative ardour by a young and convinced talent, one finds there a visible effort towards a greater simplicity of the language. Rarely have the ardors of passion, the quarrels and the joys of love of a young household been described in a warmer, more penetrating way; René Maizeroy has put into this book, which seems less a novel than a sort of diary of love, an irresistible conviction, the cry of truth that makes a work stand out from the crowd and almost assigns it a special place in literature next to the works of passion" (Le Livre, n° 94, October 10, 1887, p. 506).

Copy on Hollande paper, ENRICHED WITH 24 VERY BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL AQUARELLES, appearing on the false title and at the end of some chapters.
These watercolours are signed E. Vincent, and one of them, page 56, is also dated December 27, 1889. They are of a very beautiful workmanship, quite in the taste of the time.

A very well preserved copy. The back cover is damaged and restored.
