A very fine proof on thin cream vellum with a "van gelder" watermark, from the final state, annotated in pen and sepia ink: "N° 1 - 6th state / Landscape with shepherds and sheep / in Osny (Pontoise)" and signed, then in pencil "Epreuve d'artiste", carefully washed, with a persistent clear trace of oxidation around the subject and at the head on the reverse. All margins untrimmed. Rare. Edition of a dozen proofs during the artist's lifetime (before the posthumous edition of 12 proofs). Ex-coll. Maurice Gobin (Lugt 1124a).
