[Nabis]. Pl. for the catalogue Le Barc de Boutteville. 1893. A collection of 7 lithographs (of 8 - lacking the Ranson plate) by M. Denis (Cailler 75), Ibels, Mouclier, Roussel (Salomon 7), Sérusier, Vallotton (Vallotton and Goerg 43) and Vuillard (Roger-Marx 5). Each [155 x 245]. Fine proofs on thin buff vellum, slightly oxidized, glued at the corners to pink vellum folio. Minor accidents and short tears at the edges of some leaves. All margins [155 x 245]. 7 p. set.
The Le Barc de Bouteville gallery was founded by Louis Léon Lebarc (1837-1897), who added the name and particle of his wife Marie-Blanche de Boutteville. An art lover, he received artists and critics in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, where he lived and had a mustard factory. He became an art dealer after his retirement, and began to defend avant-garde artists such as the Nabis. Located at 47 rue Le Peletier (Paris 9e), not far from the Durand-Ruel gallery and the headquarters of the Revue blanche, the gallery existed from 1891 to 1899. In 1893 it organized an exhibition of "impressionist and symbolist painters", each of whom contributed to the catalogue by providing a lithograph announcing his or her exhibited works.
