Red morocco, boards decorated in the centre with a radiant face in a circular frame of two gilt fillets, bordered by gilt scrolls, the whole set in a gilt rocaille frame, richly decorated spine, blue morocco lining decorated with a beautiful gilt rocaille frame, engraving on silk as a guard at the beginning of the volume, yellow silk guard at the end, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, folder with red morocco spine and cover bands, case (Canape 1921). Collection of engravings by Charles JOUAS (1866-1942) made for La Cité des eaux by Henri de Régnier. Copy including the cover of the book, the false title and the title, followed by a complete suite of 37 engravings outside the text in 4 states on japon, and 50 proofs of the same engravings in one or two states, on the same paper. Very nice lined binding by Canape, including an engraving on silk as a guard. Some foxing on the title and the false title, as well as on some engravings.
