New estimated edition of the French translation given by Nicolas Perrot d'Ablancourt (1606-1664) of the 8 books of the History of the Peloponnesian War by the Greek politician and historian Thucydides and of the 7 books of the Greek History by the Greek philosopher and historian Xenophon which form the complement. It was first published in 1662. the translation of Xenophon's work occupies the entire third volume which is dated 1670. a fine copy in contemporary red morocco, in very desirable condition . Bindings very well preserved in spite of some dings notably at the corners and at the headpieces and small stains on some boards. Corners slightly dulled. Several leaves browned. Handwritten bookplates crossed out on the titles.
