RAULIN (Joseph). Analytical treatise on mineral waters in general, their properties, and their use in diseases. Paris: Vincent, 1772. - In-12, 163 x 96 : xvj, 356 pp, (2 ff.). Red morocco, triple gilt fillet and gilt arms in the centre of the boards, smooth spine decorated, gilt border inside, gilt edges (period binding). First edition. Joseph Raulin (1708-1784) was an industrious writer, ordinary physician to the king and royal censor. In this work, whose content is revealed in its broad outline in the title, he gives the state of balneographic science as it was at the time in France. It is therefore of great importance for the knowledge of this science. The treatise ends with an interesting detailed list of "the main mineral waters in use in the Kingdom". A second volume was published in 1774, a very fine copy bearing the arms of Louis-François-Armand de Vignerot du Plessis de Richelieu (1696-1788), marshal and peer of France, very well preserved .
