Interesting collection of laws concerning taxes and trade, promulgated by Louis XIV in the 1680s essentially. Copy in an astonishing binding on the boards and the spine of which has been drawn and painted a compartmentalized decoration like a fanfare. It is quite likely that this decoration was made by an amateur at a time later than the binding. The quality of the latter and the fineness of the gilt roulette on the endpapers seem to us to be out of step with the decoration covering the boards and the spine, which seems to be of a less than academic execution. Small loss at the head cover, small tear at the other cover. Colours of the first plate slightly faded.
