His drawings appeared in the Parisian satirical press under his name Jean Moulin. From 1922 onwards, when he began his administrative career, he signed under the pseudonym "Romanin", the name of a feudal castle in the Alpilles region that he had often visited in his youth. He was solicited and regularly collaborated with many newspapers: En attendant, Le Journal amusant, Le Rire, Le Carnet de la Semaine, Gringoire, Ric et Rac, etc. Le Rire, in its advertisement of the time, cites Romanin as one of its best and wittiest cartoonists. Romanin's name is also famous in the history of the French Resistance. Jean Moulin gave this name to the gallery in Nice which served as his cover during the war.
