.

Paul Reboux explains in the first issue: "This popular term sums up our programme: 'Charrier' is to mock - gently or harshly depending on the case. It is to exercise the French tradition of brocade and persiflage. It's taunting the powerful. It is to fool the mediocre, the grotesque or the naughty. The Cart will never be the instrument of a party. It will carry its victims with no sectarian spirit, no thoughtlessness perhaps, but no animosity. It will carry them away, as the condemned of yesteryear were, in front of a large crowd, to take them to this strike place where one can castigate in the name of the Ridiculous, - often stronger in our country than the Force, - all those who are subject to laughter".

Each issue has a different theme, illustrated by one of the great cartoonists of the time such as Gus Bofa, Abel Faivre, Sem, Lucien Laforge, Joseph Hémard, Pierre Falké, Jean Oberlé, Roubille, Vertès, Charles Martin, etc. Among the authors are Paul Reboux, Maurice Dekobra, Henri Duvernois, Fernand Vandérem, Pierre Veber, Roland Dorgelès, Franc-Nohain, Gaston Chérau, Lucie Delarue-Mardrus, Curnonsky, Henri Béraud, Pierre Mac-Orlan, Marcel Achard, Colette, Francis de Miomandre, Marcelle Tinayre, André Warnod, etc.

COPIES IN FASCICULES, THE MAJORITY IN LUXURY EDITIONS LIMITED TO 50 COPIES ON PURE LAFUMA THREAD PAPER.
