Original edition of this reference work by Laennec which gave the foundations to a new medicine by founding a true doctrine of auscultation. In it, he recommends in particular the use of the stethoscope of which he was the inventor. It is with him, and thanks to his research described in this work, that the pathology of the lung, liver and heart really begins. The illustration consists of 4 plates on double page, located at the end of the first volume. A fine copy in bindings by Saulnier, a Parisian bookbinder of the first half of the 20th century. The usual rubbings on the title pages. Restoration of the first 15 leaves of the first volume as well as of the first and last 2 leaves of the second volume, without damaging the text.
