Stéphane MALLARMÉ. L.A.S. (monogram) on his business card, Valvins, near Fontainebleau May 1896 [sic for 1897, to Albert Boissière]; business card written on both sides. "Thank you, from L'Illusoire Aventure; you have an exquisite sense of the poem, knowing where to take it and where to leave it, and it is through the verse itself, so alive in you and unexpected, without it ever being tackled and with the proper attitudes, that you openly lead the whole: hence, everywhere, such delicate instinctive music. I have taken from this book, my dear Poet, a very real pleasure, for which I am grateful to you "... Correspondence (B. Marchal), n° 2988.
