Royal Gendarmerie officer's sword, model 1817. Handle covered with grief, with double filigree. Gilded brass frame, fleur-de-lys cap. Four-pronged hilt and curved down quillon. Curved blade with rounded back, counter-edged and carp tongue, hollow sides, engraved, gilded and blued in the third part in a cartouche "Gendarmerie Royale" under crown and signed at the heel "Duc Fourbisseur rue St Honoré n° 254 à Paris" and "Manufre royale du Klingental Coulaux frères". Sheath in sheet iron, with two bracelets and two brass rings. Asymmetrical iron stinger. B.E.
