BOSSUET.
Sermon For the Profession of Madame de la Vallière Duchesse de Vaujour. By H.G. Jacques Bénigne
 Bossuet Bishop of Meaux.

 Paris: En l'imprimerie Royale, 1676 [circa 1930]. - In-8, (28 ff. 2 first and 2 last blanks), 10 plates, printed cover.

 full cover.
Reprint made in the 30's of this famous
 sermon by Bossuet.

Very rare, perhaps unique, copy including 10 original etchings free in colour on laid paper, out of text, in the taste of John Arden's engravings. They each illustrate a passage from the sermon, mentioned in the "Order of Engravings" at the beginning of the book, except for the first two representing a woman and an erect man, which are supposed to be portraits of Madame de La Vallière and

 King Louis XIV.
The last sheet includes a handwritten justification indicating a print run of 90 copies, 10 of which are Japanese and 80 of which are Arches. This indication seems quite fanciful. This illustrated edition is not actually cited in any bibliography and no copy seems to be available in public libraries in France or
 abroad.
Perfectly preserved copy, despite a small tear in the headdress.
