CENDRARS (Blaise) - DOISNEAU (Robert). The suburbs of Paris. Lausanne, Paris, Brussels, Milan, New York: La Guilde du Livre, [1949]. - In-8, 233 x 175: 54 pp., (1 f.), 135 pp., (2 ff.). Publisher's printed cardboard . Pre-original edition not put on the market, reserved for members of the Book Guild, printed in 4330 numbered copies on white helio paper without wood pulp from the Landquart paper mills. This book offers two different points of view on the suburbs of Paris in the 1940s, the disenchanted one of the famous writer Blaise Cendrars and the enthusiastic and optimistic one of the no less famous photographer Robert Doisneau. The text of Cendrars occupies the first 55 pages; it was written in Saint-Segond from July 15 to August 31, 1949. It is followed by the intaglio reproduction of 128 black-and-white photographs by Robert Doisneau taken between 1947 and 1949. The title indicates 130 but there are 128 of them, 7 of which are on double page. They are grouped into eight thematic sections: Kids, Love, Scenery, Sundays and Holidays, Leisure, Work, End of the Line, Dwellings. Copy bearing Blaise Cendrars' autograph signature on the forged title page . A few minor freckles without gravity.
